How We Work
What you can expect
01
Assessment and Diagnosis
We begin by conducting thorough assessments to understand each individual’s unique communication profile.
02
Development of Goals
As part of the assessment process, discussions are held regarding goals and priority areas for the individual. Goals are developed in conjunction with the individual.
03
Individualised Therapy
Our therapy sessions are tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of each client. Using evidence-based techniques and personalised treatment plans, we work collaboratively with clients and their families to achieve meaningful progress in communication skills.
Areas we help with
At Hartful Therapies, we are dedicated to enhancing functional communication skills and empowering individuals to thrive in their daily lives. Our comprehensive range of services is designed to address a variety of speech, language, and communication needs for clients of all ages.
Language Development
Speech pathologists help children develop their understanding and use of language. This includes vocabulary development, sentence structure, comprehension skills, and the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly.
Articulation and Phonology
Speech pathologists work with children to improve their pronunciation of sounds and the clarity of their speech. This includes addressing articulation errors (e.g., lisps) and phonological patterns (e.g., difficulty with certain sound patterns).
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
Speech pathologists support children who have difficulty with verbal communication by introducing AAC systems. This may include communication boards, speech-generating devices, or sign language, tailored to the child’s individual needs and abilities.
Cognitive-Communication Skills
Speech pathologists help children develop cognitive-communication skills, including attention, memory, problem-solving, and organization. They provide strategies to support communication in academic and social settings.
Feeding and Swallowing
Speech pathologists assist children with feeding and swallowing difficulties, including issues with chewing, sucking, and swallowing safely. They evaluate oral motor function and provide therapy to improve feeding skills and prevent aspiration.
Social Communication Skills
Speech pathologists work with children to develop social communication skills, such as understanding nonverbal cues, taking turns in conversation, and initiating and maintaining interactions with others.
